Twinkle by Asty Unveils a New Clothing Line

Asterie Hitimana (also known as Asty), the founder of the fashion house Twinkle by Asty, has launched a new clothing line titled the “Untitled Collection.”

This collection was created in collaboration with a young woman from Ethiopia named Lulu, and it features outfits for both men and women.

Speaking to IGIHE, Asterie explained that the concept behind the collection was inspired by everyday people, allowing the wearer’s own emotions and experiences to define what the outfit means to them.

“We were inspired by ordinary people when designing these clothes. The reason we called it ‘Untitled’ is because we wanted the individual’s feelings to define the name of each piece. For example, when you wear one of these outfits, you might feel confident or beautiful, and name it based on how it makes you feel,” she said.

Although Asterie didn’t initially dream of becoming a fashion designer, her journey into fashion was supported by encouragement from friends and family who constantly pushed her to pursue it.

“I never really thought I would start a fashion house, even though I had worked in the field before. Later, my family helped and encouraged me to go for it. They kept saying, ‘You have talent and you love this.’”

She admitted that starting out was difficult, but over time she grew into the work. She noted that people once didn’t appreciate locally made clothing in Rwanda, but expressed gratitude for the government’s strong support in promoting local fashion.

Looking ahead, Hitimana hopes that in the next five to ten years, her clothing will be worn by everyone.

“I want Twinkle to be accessible to everyone, regardless of their income or background. I want children, adults, and parents alike to wear these clothes. I want people to feel something when they put on a Twinkle outfit.”

Twinkle by Asty began in 2018, originally focusing on bridal wear. This latest line, the Untitled Collection, is the third major release by the brand.
